Jivaka Komarabhacca from Thailand was a contemporary of the Buddha around 2500 B.C. He was lovingly known as Doctor Shyvago which means the “Father Doctor” because not only did he assist in the building of the first temple of the Buddha but also was the chief physician to him and his monks. Jivaka developed a specialized art form that is known today as Thai Nuad or Thai Massage. This was practiced originally by the monks and by those who were royal. However, when the monks went to China and later Thailand the art form began to spread. By the 1900’s it was considered an essential aspect of health among the Thai people and even those trained in medicines such as nurses were required to learn the techniques to be used in the hospitals. Only in recent years has the Western part of the world begun to learn of Thai Massage and today it is the fastest-growing modality in the United States.

Part of the philosophy of Thai Massage begins with a deep level of compassion born out of natural love and care for those in need. The founders of Best Thai Spa have been involved with Thai Massage their whole life and have decades of experience both here and in Thailand practicing this ancient and sacred art tradition. It is with great pride as well as an immense amount of gratitude for those who entrust us with their care that we seek to create an experience that is meaningful and fulfilling. We encourage you to “give us a try”, and let us treat you to a “Royal” experience.
